Lighting and reflections
Multi-view reconstruction relies on consistent pixel correspondences. Large lighting swings across a capture session make matching harder. Prefer diffuse-dominant setups; specular subjects benefit from softer fill light. The following habits are heuristics—validate with test shots. [unverified]
Sharpness and motion blur
Blur weakens corner responses and hurts sub-pixel alignment. Stabilize the camera, avoid accidental macro modes on phones, and balance aperture with diffraction and depth of field for static subjects.
Overlap and framing
Adjacent views need shared texture for loop closure. This path uses a rule of thumb (~70% horizontal / ~60% vertical overlap) for small-room captures; treat it as curriculum guidance, not a universal constant. [unverified]
